The Process of Joining ODSA

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Confirm your eligibility. Review the eligibility criteria and membership categories to identify where you or your organisation fit.
  2. Select your membership category. Decide whether you are applying as a National Hero, Family Member, Veteran & Service Member, Youth Member, Honorary Member, Corporate/Institutional Member, or Patron.
  3. Obtain the official application form. Download the membership form from the Association’s website or collect a physical copy from the National Secretariat Office.
  4. Complete the form accurately. Fill in all required personal, service, or institutional details, ensuring that the information provided is truthful, complete, and legible.
  5. Attach supporting documents. Provide verifiable documentation confirming your eligibility (e.g. recognition letters, service records, national honours, identification documents, or proof of relationship for family members).
  6. Submit your application. Return the completed form and attachments to the National Secretariat or through the official email address as guided by the Secretariat.
  7. Verification and approval. The Secretariat reviews your documents, conducts necessary verification, and forwards the application for formal approval in line with the Association’s governance structures.
  8. Notification and induction. Once approved, you will be notified formally and guided through induction into the Association, including orientation on rights, obligations, and participation in ODSA activities.

Eligibility to Join ODSA

  • Heroes’ Family Members: Spouses, children, parents, or officially designated next-of-kin with proof of relationship.
  • Veteran & Service Members: Individuals who have served honourably in KDF, Police, NIS, NYS, Fire & Rescue, or public service.
  • Youth Members (18–35): Young Kenyans demonstrating leadership, patriotism, innovation, or community service.
  • Honorary Members: Persons (Kenyan or foreign) with notable national contributions in development, arts, sports, security, or humanitarian work.
  • Corporate/Institutional Members: Registered organisations supporting the Association’s mission.
